Blue-and?Gold Macaw (Ara ararauna) At Mt Rushmore Birds we pride ourselves in superior, well-socialized, hand-fed baby Macaws. The Blue and Gold has a reputation for their clear talking ability and large vocabulary. They are the most popular of all the Macaw species, probably due to their stable personalities. At this time we have a baby that is close to weaning. This little Blue and Gold loves to cuddle and is already talking.

This is a 4 month old, hand-fed, and very well socialized Green-wing Macaw (Paco). Paco is sitting with his little Eclectus buddy, Rosa, under his wing. The green-wing Macaw is the largest of which can be called common. This large bird needs lots of exercise, lots of chewing materials, and lots of handling to maintain its good disposition. It is a willing talker with a very audible voice. They are called both majestic and comical with their massive heads and beaks.

The Red-Fronted is considered to be the smallest of the large Macaws. It is about 24" in length (compared to the Green-Wing's 36" length). They come from the south central region of Bolivia and are considered an endangered species in the wild. They have been successfully bred in aviculture since the 1980s.
